Read on to learn how Smithlist can help you recruit an operator, GM, CEO, or other leadership role to help run your business.
As we build the site's brand and traffic, we're not charging to post jobs — so it's currently free to post.
For sponsors & searchers: We do have a requirement that if you do not yet own the business you are hiring for, the target business must be under LOI before a role there can be posted.
There are 2 steps:
Once the job is live on Smithlist, it will be promoted to the Acquiring Minds audience in a future episode. The exact timing depends on availability.
To get started, email inquiries@smithlist.com.
Don't forget that if you're hiring for a business you don't yet own, it must be under LOI before we can post the job listing.
You do not — though we do recommend it.
A video interview makes for a much stronger job listing. We've seen that more information about a role provided up front — especially with video — will accelerate filtering candidates that aren't a fit while attracting those that are.
We understand that there can be sensitivities around hiring, so while we prefer the employer provide as much identifying information as possible, yes, you may keep the hiring company anonymous.
We have had the occasional sponsor or owner prefer that their identity not appear on the job listing. Again, while our belief is that more information makes for a more effective job listing, you may stay anonymous if there is a strong reason to do so.
We promote new roles to the audience of Acquiring Minds, the podcast devoted to small business & acquisition entrepreneurship that launched Smithlist. The exact timing depends on availability in Acquiring Minds episodes, but we attempt to promote Smithlist listings as soon as possible after they are posted.

Simply click the Contact Employer button on the job listing. You will need to register if you haven't already, then you'll be directed to a form. Provide your resume, LinkedIn profile, and a cover letter as a message, and we will forward your application to the employer.
Within 24 hours we will forward your application to the employer, who will reach out to you directly. We encourage employers to reply to applicants within 48 hours of receiving their applications (though we can't enforce this).
Use the Contact Employer button on the job listing (the same way you'd actually apply for the job).
